Here at Swan City, we pride ourselves on our core values of inclusiveness, integrity and providing a supportive and empowering environment to skaters of all ages, backgrounds, skill levels and identities. Swan City Derby was originally formed as a female league in late 2012 and christened after our home state, Western Australia and home to the black swan.  Then, male skaters participated as referees, officials and coaches. On October 26th, 2013, the league became mixed gender (co-ed) to further align us with our inclusive values. Mixed gender roller derby provides an exciting track dynamic and a great developmental environment for all our skaters.

We skate under a ‘No Hate, Just Skate’ ethos. Our sport extends beyond our teams, our leagues. Roller derby is a community: strengthening, empowering and supporting people.

Our skaters together comprise female identifying, male identifying and mixed gender teams. We pride ourselves on working hard to provide a safe place in roller derby for the LGBTQ community, non binary and the transgender community. We support body positivity and roller derby helps you to see what your body, no matter what build, is capable of and is a strong asset to the team.
